Course Overview

HACC is offering a 45-hour, four-week Contact Tracer Training Program in accordance with guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Pennsylvania Department of Health. The program is designed to prepare individuals for a career in contact tracing.

Training is presented in a blended format including instructor-led classes conducted remotely via Zoom technology as well as other online components:

  • Week One: COVID-19 Basics, Basics of a Pandemic, CDC Guidance and Intro to Epidemiology (15 hours)
  • Week Two: Contact Tracer Requirements and Protocol (10 hours)
  • Week Three: Health Information Protection and Patient Privacy (10 hours)
  • Week Four: Contact Tracing in Various Scenarios, Customer Service, Cultural Sensitivity (10 hours)

Students will earn a HACC certificate of completion upon finishing the program. To enroll, a student must be 18 or older, have a high school diploma or General Equivalency Diploma and pass a mandated Pennsylvania background check. Eligible applicants may receive funding from SCPa Works for the $429 cost of the course.
