Courses are provided through Codecademy and Coursera. We’ve listed some recommended courses for New Yorkers below. Once you’ve read the description of each course, you can apply for a Codecademy Pro license or enroll in a Coursera course.

A limited number of Codecademy Pro licenses and Coursera enrollments are available for New Yorkers who qualify.

You may qualify for a Codecademy Pro license if you:

  • Are 18 years of age or older
  • Currently have an annual salary of $50,000 or less
  • Meet one of the following:
    • your employment or income has been affected in some way by COVID-19, OR
    • you are an essential worker, such as a grocer or delivery professional

You may qualify for a Coursera enrollment if you:

What do I need?

A desktop or laptop computer with internet service and some interest in learning more about data analytics.

What will I learn?

These courses will expand on what you have learned in the online data workshops provided by Galvanize in the Discover stage, and give you an opportunity for additional practice to become more familiar and comfortable with these skills.

In addition to the courses below, it is helpful for candidates interested in occupational training to have a basic understanding of beginner algebra (for example, solving equations, graphing, percentages, ratios, number expressions, decimals, and fractions).

How long will this take?

Courses vary in length, and you don’t need to master the course content to apply for occupational training. However, these are useful introductory courses that will expose you to key concepts that are covered in more depth during occupational training.

What can I do after completing these courses?

These practice courses will help you prepare to apply for a data analyst career training program.
