Chicago Heights Workforce Center at Prairie State College

The Chicago Heights Workforce Center provides a wide variety of resources to help individuals obtain new job skills and training to make them more employable. You may qualify for training at no cost to you. Look for PSC WIOA approved programs that lead to high-demand jobs. For more information call (708) 709-7975 or attend an orientation at Prairie State College on Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 1 p.m. in ATOC building located at 202 S. Halted St., Chicago Heights.

CDL Truck Driver Training Program

Start a new career with higher earning potential Train to be a truck driver at the KLLM Driving Academy, Inc., a fully accredited training program, in partnership with Prairie State College. In a matter of weeks, you can earn a Class A Commercial Driver’s License using state of the art training equipment. Plus, you can obtain full time employment with KLLM Transport Services at the conclusion of training. All of this with no out-of-pocket expenses.

Forklift Operator Training – 20 Hour Certification Course –WIOA APPROVED (also available in Spanish)

This 20-hour certification course covers the basic forklift driving skills needed to obtain your forklift operator certification. Students learn the operation of industrial forklifts used in warehousing and distribution centers and the types of equipment used for material handling. Upon successful completion of this course, students will receive a certificate of completion for Forklift Operation and a certification card for completing Basic Operator Training.

Forklift Operator Training – 40 Hour Certification Course –WIOA APPROVED

Students learn the operation of industrial forklifts used in warehousing and distribution centers and the types of equipment used for material handling. The course includes instruction on pre-shift inspection, stacking and un-stacking pallets from a rack system, simulated loading of a semi-trailer, and how to move loads around a dock area safely and efficiently. The OSHA-10-hour safety training course is part of this certification course. Students will receive a certificate of completion for Forklift Operation, a certification card for completing the Forklift Operators Training, and a certification card for completing the OSHA 10-hour safety training course.
