Apprenticeship Training

State-of-the-art training is the key to producing highly-skilled craftsmen-the kind of specialists that are in demand in today�s challenging work environment.

Top-notch training in the Plumbing, Pipefitting, and HVAC-Refrigeration trades is more than just education, information and classroom sessions. It’s real-world, hands-on experience, too. Local 344 is dedicated to providing the most highly trained, knowledgeable and productive craftsperson’s to the plumbing, heating and cooling industry.

Apprenticeships are five years in duration, which includes two nights of schooling each week in addition to a regular 40 hour work week “on the job.”

Journeyman upgrading classes in a variety of different areas are offered, including welding, medical gas installation, safety and HVAC Service.

  • Plumbing
    • Residential and Commercial service work.
    • Drawing and blueprint reading.
    • Commercial and industrial systems.
    • Soldering, Brazing and Welding.
    • The latest industry standards including safety and health in the workplace.
    • UHP-Ultra High Purity, used in the Hi-Tech Industries.
    • The code training required to receive a journeyman plumber and gas fitter’s license.
    • Medical Gas installer certification.
  • Pipefitting
    • Heating and cooling systems for a variety of systems.
    • Schematic, technical and isometric drawing and layouts of basic refrigeration.
    • Welding, soldering and brazing.
    • The code training required to receive a journeyman mechanical license.
    • Low and high pressure steam boiler systems.
    • UHP-Ultra High Purity, used in the Hi-Tech Industries.
    • The latest industry standards including safety and health in the workplace.
  • HVAC Refrigeration
    • Heating and cooling systems for a variety of industries.
    • Electronics and electronic control systems.
    • Pneumatic control systems.
    • Energy management systems Cold Storage and low temperature systems.
    • Schematic drawing and layouts
    • The latest industry standards including safety and health in the workplace.
    • The code training required to receive a journeyman mechanical license.
