This certificate prepares students for employment in which they directly supervise and coordinate activities of retail sales workers.

Piedmont Virginia Community College offers the Career Studies Certificate in Retail Management. The program can be completed in just two semesters, and financial aid is available for qualifying students.

Graduates who successfully complete this program will be prepared for jobs in which they directly supervise and coordinate activities of retail sales workers in an establishment or department. Duties may include management functions, such as purchasing, budgeting, accounting and personnel work in addition to supervisory duties. Further, PVCC graduates who complete the National Retail Federation (NRF) Certification exam in Retail Management will demonstrate that they have the knowledge and skills necessary in the primary discipline of retail management and are prepared to pursue related careers.

Admission Requirements
PVCC has an open admissions policy. You may apply and register for classes if you:
• Are at least 18 years of age,
• Or, if younger than 18, you have a high school diploma, GED® or have taken placements tests.

Admissions Process
Submit an Online Application
Admission is free. Once you have submitted your application, you will receive a Student ID number and username. Make sure to keep this information for your records.


Complete the Advising Questionnaire
Log in with your MyPVCC user name and password to guide you to the English and math classes best suited for you.


Apply for Financial Aid
All degree- and certificate-seeking students are encouraged to apply for financial aid. Financial aid may come in the form of grants, scholarships, loans, or work-study positions.


Meet with an Advisor
